Ziektebeeld of Behandeling JC virus kan reactiveren in immuungecompromitteerde patiënten en is in die omstandigheden geassocieerd met Progressieve Multi-focale Leuko-Encefalopathie (PML). In sporadische gevallen is JC virus ook geassocieerd met een interstitiële nefritis.

Bewaar-/transportcondities Om een optimale leefbaarheid van de micro-organismen te behouden, is het aanbevolen om het materiaal zo snel mogelijk naar het laboratorium te transporteren. Tot aan het transport wordt het materiaal koel bewaard gedurende maximaal 48 uur.
Frequentie onderzoek Onbekend (onderzoek wordt extern verricht)
Duur onderzoek Maximaal 14 dagen
Referentie/interpretatie van het onderzoek De uitslag is negatief wanneer geen genoom wordt aangetoond. De interpretatie van positieve uitslagen in afhankelijk van soort materiaal en immuun status van de patiënt.
Bijzonderheden Onderzoek wordt extern verricht
