Bewaar-/transportcondities Om een optimale leefbaarheid van de micro-organismen te behouden, is het aanbevolen om het materiaal zo snel mogelijk naar het laboratorium te transporteren. Tot aan het transport wordt het materiaal koel bewaard gedurende maximaal 48 uur.

Duur onderzoek 1-3 dagen
Referentie/interpretatie van het onderzoek Een positieve PCR is bewijzend voor infectie. Naast C. psittaci kunnen met deze PCR ook C. caviae, C. abortus en C. felis worden gedetecteerd. Het is niet mogelijk om middels deze PCR onderscheid te maken tussen de verschillende species. Bij een positieve PCR wordt het materiaal opgestuurd voor nadere typering.
