Ik volgde mijn opleiding tot medisch specialist en klinisch epidemioloog in het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC) en het Amsterdam Universitair Medisch Centrum (AUMC). Ik werk als neurochirurg in het HagaZiekenhuis, het Groene Hart Ziekenhuis, het LangeLand ziekenhuis en Haaglanden Medisch Centrum (HMC). Ik ben gespecialiseerd in operaties aan de wervelkolom en Deep Brain Stimulation (diepe hersenstimulatie). Deep Brain Stimulation zetten we onder andere in bij de behandeling van de ziekte van Parkinson.

Ik werk ook als epidemioloog/onderzoeker in het LUMC. Verder ben ik lid van de Wetenschappelijke Onderzoeks Commissie van het HagaZiekenhuis. Ik leid bovendien assistenten en Physician Assistants op.
